Columbus Public Health Safe Space Video Campaign

Proving the power of humanizing HIV care through two million views

Reaching people who fear stigma over HIV

Today, fear of HIV isn’t what keeps people from care—fear of judgment does. Across Columbus, many in the community felt safer avoiding the system than entering it. Columbus Public Health needed to change that narrative. Together, KW2 built a campaign that spoke to humanity before healthcare, one that replaced stigma with safety, and helped the community see that care begins with trust.

Feeling seen—and seeing change in nearly 10K people

For many in Columbus, being seen was the first step toward engaging care. The Safe Space campaign made that visibility real. KW2 developed a blend of media strategies that put these stories directly in front of those most impacted. The campaign’s videos were viewed more than two million times across Meta, YouTube, and Google. Each view was more than an impression; it was a reflection of someone who recognized themselves in the message. Over the course of the campaign, Safe Space connected nearly 10,000 people with trusted, judgment-free care resources. It proved that when people feel seen, they move toward care.

“The people in these videos are part of our city. They look like our clients, our friends, our families. Safe Space reminded Columbus that everyone deserves care they can trust—and that HIV prevention starts with being seen, not judged.”
